A New Step Towards a Single European Digital Market
April 2014 by Dictao
On April 3rd, the European Parliament passed a new regulation on Electronic Identification and Trusted Services for Electronic Transactions (eIDAS).
This new regulation will help to increase trust in electronic transactions within the European market. It presents a clear legal framework for cross border and cross sector electronic transactions that are secure, reliable and convenient, and that ensure identification, authentication, and electronic signatures.
Dictao is a leading publisher of software solutions for digital trust and security. The Dictao products for digital signatures and proof management are certified at the EAL3+ level of the international Common Criteria security standards.
"Dictao is thrilled that the European Parliament has passed this regulation on electronic identification and trusted services. This law is instrumental for Dictao to export its products and contribute to the development of digital transactions at a European scale, while respecting regulatory frameworks and guaranteeing the security and confidentiality of data and transactions,” said J. Pantin, CEO of Dictao.
Dictao welcomes in particular the new certification requirements for qualified electronic signature creation devices. These certifications must now be granted by accredited independent entities. These labels guarantee a high level of security, which is necessary for using electronic signatures.
The proposal will now go through the legislative procedure for adoption by the Council of the European Union. This represents a major milestone in the creation of a single European digital market that favors cross border and sector digital transactions.
The Dictao software line, which provides strong authentication, digital signature and digital proof management functions, allows all European countries to comply with the security requirements included in this regulation.
