Accelerating the digital transition of Overseas territories
The site offers secure and innovative data hosting solutions adapted to local needs, contributing to the digital transformation of Polynesian businesses and institutions.
With a long-standing presence in the French overseas territories, TDF has been supporting technological transitions there for more than 50 years. In French Polynesia, TDF has been established since the 1980s, when television was first rolled out across the archipelago. A dedicated local team is based in Papeete, ensuring strong roots and an in-depth understanding of the territory’s realities.
An ambitious project adapted to local needs
Delivered in June 2025 after work carried out in the first half of 2025, the data center is located at TDF’s strategic Pic Rouge site. The former TDF building, initially dedicated to television, radio broadcasting, and telecom hosting, has been redeveloped.
The renovation created a state-of-the-art facility with optimized energy and IT infrastructures, including a heat recovery system for temperature regulation. The building’s roof will also be equipped with solar panels by the end of 2025.
The Pic Rouge site is strategically located for two key reasons:
Situated at an altitude of 300m, the site is outside flood zones, ensuring strong resilience against natural risks.
It benefits from high-performance connectivity thanks to fiber optic and high-definition microwave links.
The site successfully passed a compliance audit conducted by a certified body, validating its resilience in terms of energy, cooling, fire detection and suppression, and perimeter security (Tier III level).
This project is part of TDF’s overall strategy to support the digital transition of overseas territories by optimizing existing land and energy resources. Designed to meet clients’ specific needs, this agile model can also be adapted to other territories with limited or hard-to-access IT infrastructures.
First Strategic Clients
Upon opening, the site welcomed its first clients: Banque de Polynésie, a subsidiary of Société Générale, and Axians Polynésie. In line with this momentum, an extension phase is already scheduled for 2026 to increase the site’s capacity and host new clients.
