ZeedSecurity: An insecure app can create a loss of business opportunity of up to 30%

April 2015 by ZeedSecurity

The companies have changed their client loyalty strategy. Nowadays they choose to develop apps that “hook” the client. However, if the app is insecure it produces a loss of users and corporate image that is very difficult to recover and that reaches high costs.

Barcelona, 31 of March 2015. Nowadays, there are many companies that develop apps as a client loyalty strategy. However, if this app is insecure and produces slowness issues, malware distribution or stops working the user will eliminate it from his mobile phone. According to ZeedSecurity data, this can create a loss of business opportunity of up to 30%.

The user checks his mobile phone between 40 and 70 times a day.
According to diverse neuromarketing studies, it is estimated that the user checks his Smartphone between 40 and 70 times a day. Thus making it an excellent into a perfect communication and loyalty channel. Catalogues of points, presentations of fashion collections, new product releases and services…; companies are using app´s for Smartphone’s and tablets as a way of increasing their client conversion and loyalty ratio.

In the last year, cyberattacks on mobile phone devices have increased in 80%
However, just as ZeedSecurity emphasizes, every year the number of cyber attacks to mobile phones increases. This makes it necessary to increase the level of security of the server that hosts the app. “The attacks on app servers for mobile phones devices has increased up to 80% in the last year and this is estimated to continue growing exponentially” Joel Espunya, CEO of ZeedSecurity says, to which he adds “with just one attack to the server, the hackers have access to a large quantity of users from which they obtain highly valuable information”. A server is a good distributor of virus and malware that will be used for future more individualized and customized attacks.

An attack on an app is more dangerous that on a website

The possible effects of an attack to a mobile phone app server on the results of a campaign are much higher than those it can have on a company website. Mostly, when a user thinks he has suffered an attack on an app, normally he doesn’t only comment about it in their immediate environment. But 80% comment on it on their regular social media sites, in forums or in the opinion section of the app itself. This increases the level of negative impact on the level of the company’s image and as a direct consequence, on its results.
