Vigil@nce - Cisco ASA: denial of service via CIFS Share Enumeration

July 2014 by Vigil@nce

This bulletin was written by Vigil@nce : http://vigilance.fr/offer

SYNTHESIS OF THE VULNERABILITY

An attacker can send a special CIFS reply to Cisco ASA, in order
to trigger a denial of service.

Impacted products: ASA

Severity: 2/4

Creation date: 15/07/2014

DESCRIPTION OF THE VULNERABILITY

The Cisco ASA product has a WebVPN Common Internet File System
feature.

However, if the CIFS server returns a large list of shares, Cisco
ASA is reloaded.

An attacker can therefore send a special CIFS reply to Cisco ASA,
in order to trigger a denial of service.
