VMware and SAP Collaborate to Deliver Mobile Security and Simplified User Experience for Mobile Applications

VMware, Inc.announced today at VMworld® an expanded relationship with SAP SE to help simplify mobile app delivery for end users through the integration of mobile place from the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio with AirWatch® by VMware solutions. As the first partner to start to integrate its solution with mobile place, the mobile app management solution from the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio, VMware will enable customers to leverage the AirWatch by VMware platform with SAP mobile apps built using SAP Mobile Platform.
Organizations continue to shift from simple email configuration on mobile devices to robust application and content delivery to improve end-user effectiveness in the mobile-cloud era. Businesses are building, distributing, managing and analyzing mobile applications to help redefine business processes and end-user workflows. VMware will work with SAP in an effort to create standard services to distribute applications through the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio and AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management™ (EMM) platform. The collaboration is expected to provide a more enhanced experience of applications used for work across corporate-owned, line-of-business and bring your own device (BYOD) scenarios.
The expanded VMware and SAP relationship is expected to provide significant advantages for customers, including solutions that can enable:
· AirWatch customers to gain access to SAP Mobile Secure, SAP’s secure application distribution and management solution
· AirWatch administrators to browse mobile place, the SAP Mobile Secure solution, to select applications relevant to their enterprise, enter company-specific configurations and then distribute the application using AirWatch to selected users
· Users to access mobile place, the SAP Mobile Secure solution to find an application of interest and install the application on AirWatch managed devices without the need to contact IT.
As part of the SAP Mobile Secure portfolio, mobile place is a brandable, localized and secure enterprise app store that enables companies to more simply and proactively push their mobile apps into the hands of employees, business partners and consumers. The AirWatch by VMware platform offers one of the industry’s leading solutions for mobile device, application, email, browser and content management, and is used by more than 13,000 organizations in 150 countries. VMware recently announced that AirWatch solutions are now available on VMware’s price list for its network of more than 75,000 partners.
