Stonesoft announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Challengers quadrant in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Network Firewalls report. Gartner evaluates vendors based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision.
Gartner regards the enterprise firewall market as “one of the largest and most mature security markets. It is populated with mature vendors, and shortlists are fairly homogeneous among horizontal and vertical markets”. According to Gartner, “changing business and threat conditions are putting pressure on growth in the firewall market. In addition, “organizations’ final product selection decisions must be driven by their specific requirements, especially in the relative importance of management capabilities,
ease and speed of the deployment, acquisition costs, IT organization support capabilities, and integration with the established security and network infrastructure”.
Stonesoft continues to build on its strength as an innovator in virtualization security with its StoneGate Virtual Firewall/VPN and StoneGate Virtual IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) solutions. Both products are certified for VMware and can be run under the StoneGate Management Center.
Gartner evaluates vendors annually based on the following evaluation criteria: ability to execute, which includes product or service, overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness and track record, market execution and customer experience and operations; and completeness of vision, comprising of market understanding and strategy, sales strategy, offering strategy, business model, vertical, industry and geographic strategy and innovation.
