New Rack Models Enhance Flexibility of Eaton’s 5SC UPS Range

April 2017 by Marc Jacob

Eaton has extended its range of line-interactive UPSs to help IT managers find the best option for securing reliable power protection for small business servers. The 5SC range now features Rack and Rack/Tower (RT) models, in addition to Tower models, and covers power ratings of 500VA to 3kVA. The flexible range provides compact, reliable and affordable protection to ensure safe operation in a wide range of IT and industrial applications such as servers, networking and storage devices, and banking machines.

The 5SC range has been designed to enable efficient management and monitoring: all models feature an LCD interface, which works as a personal dashboard, providing valuable information about the real-time status of the UPS, the load and battery level and various other adjustable parameters. The sinewave output ensures compatibility with today’s most sensitive IT equipment and the adjustable input waveform sensitivity helps adapt the UPS to fit specific environments.

All models feature USB and serial ports to enable automatic integration with all major operating systems. In addition, the Rack and RT models (where the UPS can be either rack mounted or used as a standalone device) also feature an optional slot to accommodate a network management or Serial/Relay card for improved communication. This slot implementation makes rack and RT models compatible with all Eaton network management solutions as well as leading virtual environments of VMware, RedHat, Citrix and HyperV.

To minimise cost and optimise the product life span, the 5SC series features Eaton’s patented ABM technology, which prolongs battery life by up to 50 per cent, only recharging the battery when necessary.
