Information of Hitachi Data System (HDS) storage arrays accessible from SanSentinel’s DataCenter Infrastructure Management (DCIM) in a Cloud

October 2014 by Marc Jacob

SAN Sentinel SAS announced support for VSP & VSP G1000 storage arrays from HDS in addition to EMC, Netapp, IBM, HP, Cisco, Brocade and VMware.

As mentioned by analysts, plenty of IT shops have rejected storage resource management (SRM) tools in the past because of the cost and the complexity of implementing them. Considering the storage heterogeneity of the infrastructures, accelerated by the introduction in the market of new technologies like flash, new concepts like object storage or software defined storage (SDS), many of these same organizations may need to reconsider storage resource management software as they confront the challenge of managing their expanding storage environments on tight budgets.

San Sentinel technology enables you to collect the objects composing the storage infrastructure without any installation. Each collected object is normalized to allow an application or an end user to retrieve it in a unique point without needing to know the physical location of the data.
It is essential to automate and rationalize data storage in Cloud Computing environments.

By applying this technological breakthrough to SRM (Storage Resource Management) applications, San Sentinel has developed Sentinel Navigator, the only SaaS/Cloud "Storage Management in a Cloud" solution capable of analyzing storage environments and of providing information on a dashboard accessible through a unique graphic interface from anywhere in the World.

By supporting HDS storage arrays, San Sentinel brings to its customers the new generation of storage management tools in a cloud at the lowest cost. HDS customers can now take benefits of the San Sentinel’s technology for better optimizing the storage infrastructure by reducing costs and resources dedicated to the storage administration.

They can save immediately from 30% and up to 50% of administration time by automating most of the common tasks and using the efficient tools available. The storage cost can be reduced by 5% to 15%, by recovering unused space on a regular basis. Customers can decrease by 5% the storage allocated to the business lines by fine controlling their current consumption. In addition, time to report is decreased by 10, by automating a monthly report and by giving the Management a dashboard accessible at any time. With a better control of the infrastructure evolution, they can divide by 2 the risk of incidents and save time on troubleshooting.
