Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) Enters Colocation Agreement with Colo Atl

July 2016 by Marc Jacob

Colo Atl announces that Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) has entered into an agreement to begin collocating critical networking equipment into Colo Atl’s downtown Atlanta facility. The agreement is significant as GTC offers additional peering and cross connection to FNA members throughout the region – with no monthly recurring cross connect fees in the Colo Atl Meet Me Room (MMR).

GTC will begin by first tapping into Allied Fiber’s network via Colo Atl’s Meet Me Area (MMA) to establish “bridge fiber” to create a temporary connection to its training facilities in Smarr, Georgia. This initial connection will be used to facilitate Internet connectivity and WAN networking for the company as it begins migrating its networking equipment and rerouting fiber to Colo Atl, at 55 Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta.

“This move ensures that we have access to many of the key network operators in the Southeast region,” states David Van Winkle, Operations and Maintenance at GTC. “In addition to its location and tenant roster, there are a number of benefits to working with Colo Atl, including exceptionally fast installation, a customer-focused and professional staff, and access to more than 90 network operators and service providers. We’re thrilled to be among the first FNA members in the facility as well. We look forward to the many partnerships this will bring.”

“Georgia Transmission is the ideal tenant and technology partner of Colo Atl’s. Its FNA affiliation and strong presence in the Southeast means everyone benefits,” comments Tim Kiser, Owner and Founder of Colo Atl. “I’m looking forward to helping facilitate the many interconnection and peering agreements that are inevitable in this agreement, and to providing those connections with no monthly recurring cross connect fees between tenants.”

Founded in November 2001, Colo Atl provides a reasonable, accommodating and cost-effective interconnection environment for more than 90 local, regional and global network operators. In 2016, the company is celebrating its 15-year anniversary of providing service excellence and growth. Learn more about our 15-year celebration promotions and other activities here.
