ForeScout and Rapid7 Partner to Deliver Real-time Assessment and Remediation Capabilities

July 2014 by Marc Jacob

ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced a partnership that will enable Rapid7 Nexpose and ForeScout CounterACT™ interoperability to address user demand for real-time assessment and mitigation of vulnerabilities, exposures and violations.

Rapid7 Nexpose vulnerability management analyses vulnerabilities, controls and configurations, and determines compliance with security best practices and external regulations such as PCI, HIPAA, etc. In a planned integration with ForeScout CounterACT – a real-time security platform that delivers visibility, intelligence and automated control for devices, users, systems and applications attempting to connect to or are on an enterprise network – and Rapid7 Nexpose, IT organisations will be able to continuously mitigate security exposures by improving the timeliness of risk posture information and automating remediation.

As a member of the ForeScout ControlFabric™ partner program, Rapid7’s Nexpose will work with CounterACT to enable real-time assessment and policy-based mitigation of endpoint security risks. This includes the ability to perform the following functions:

Real-time vulnerability assessment. An integrated CounterACT/Nexpose solution will invoke real-time discovery and assessment of devices as they connect to the network, including the transient ones. CounterACT can detect a device when it connects to the network, or when a monitored property of a network device changes, and at that time can invoke Nexpose to scan the device.
Automate remediation and reduce the gap between detection and mitigation of risks. Working together, CounterACT can act on information received from Nexpose to improve compliance by directly remediating endpoints, initiating external remediation processes, and limiting or removing network access of devices that present a high security risk to the network.
