Colt rated in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Pan-European Network Services

April 2014 by Marc Jacob

Colt Technology Services has announced that it has retained its product viability rating in the latest Gartner report ‘Critical Capabilities for Pan-European Network Services’1. The report also showed an improved product rating for Colt from 25 to 28 and a rise in the overall use case score from 3.7 to 4.1.

For the second year running Colt has scored 5 out of 5 for its Ethernet services, which we feel demonstrates the company’s strength and continued leadership in this area. Ratings for Managed MPLS VPNs, Internet access and SIP trunks and TDM voice trunks for Colt have each improved to 4.5. Colt has continued to invest in its network across Europe, connecting the cities where its customers do business. Colt improved its overall score for core city backbone use case from 4.4 to 4.6 out of five.

This is the second Critical Capabilities Report for Pan-European Network Services that Gartner has produced. According to Gartner, “’Critical capabilities’ are attributes that differentiate products in a class in terms of their quality and performance. Gartner recommends that users consider the set of critical capabilities as some of the most important criteria for acquisition decisions.”

In the 2014 report, Gartner advises “the Pan-European network service market has a growing emphasis on sophisticated managed services and the extension of geographic coverage via hybrid network technologies. Enterprise IT and network leaders can improve service outcomes and pricing by competitively procuring these services.”

Richard Oosterom, EVP Group Strategy & Business Development at Colt, said: “We believe the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Pan-European Network Services report is an excellent barometer of the industry and the performance of the key players within it. We have continued to invest in our product features and geographical coverage in line with our customers’ requirements, which has contributed to our overall position in a competitive market. This report is a trusted benchmark of performance for enterprises and channel partners looking for pan-European network service providers.”

Recent network services customer announcements include European broadcaster EUROVISION, financial services provider Fidessa, Tourism in Ireland and the International Berlin Film Festival.
