Claranet makes second acquisition in a month with the purchase of Typhon, an Open Source hosting and application specialist

Recent acquisitions of Star Technology Services (in the UK - completed in November) and Typhon (in France) confirm Claranet’s position as the largest mid-tier provider of integrated hosting and networks services in Europe.
Claranet, one of Europe’s leading managed services providers, acquires French hosting company Typhon for a total consideration of €4.2m (£3.4m), and continues its ambitious growth strategy in Europe. This acquisition, along with the recent acquisition of Star Technology Services in the UK, confirms Claranet’s position as the largest mid-tier provider of integrated hosting and networks in Europe.
Founded in 2005 and based in Paris, Typhon is recognised as an expert in web and open source hosting services. With offerings that broaden Claranet’s existing service portfolio, Typhon is a natural partner for Claranet. The acquisition means that all customers will benefit from the expertise of both companies and from an extended services portfolio. Typhon has over 200 customers across all industry sectors, including Radio France, Rue89, Attractive World, and Lafourchette.com.
As a result of this acquisition, the Claranet Group will have revenues of over €154 million (£124m), circa 700 employees, over 4,700 customers, and operations in 6 European countries (France, UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and Portugal). Claranet’s customers will include Veolia, Airbus, Amnesty International, Wonderbra, Skoda, Total, L’Occitane, N24 and Tag Heuer, amongst others.
