Bart Ransomware - Webroot Commentary

June 2016 by Tyler Moffitt, Senior Threat Research Analyst at Webroot

Following the discovering of the new Bart Ransomware, which doesn’t need to connect to an external server before encrypting a system’s files, please find the below commentary from Webroot.

“This variant will definitely gain traction as Locky and Dridex were top performers in the malware scene. With the sharp drop of Angler Exploit Kit infecting victims (because of the arrest of over 50 hackers in Russia responsible for its development), we expect Bart and other variants that attack through the phishing vector to increase to fill this void.” Tyler Moffitt, Senior Threat Research Analyst at Webroot.
