Automatic Systems’ SlimLane speed gates are BIS compatible

April 2014 by Marc Jacob

Automatic Systems announces that its SlimLane speed gates are BIS (Biometric Identification Systems) compatible, allowing for seamless identification and access.

By seamlessly integrating biometric authentication technology into the SlimLane speed gates, users do not need to stop or carry badges therefore increasing throughput rate. BIS readers and lights are installed inside SlimLane and work via software or dry contacts. Users are pre-enrolled with biometrics and validated as they approach the gates. SlimLane opens automatically when authorised individuals walk through. In cases of attempted fraud or tailgating an alarm is generated.

Automatic Systems tested a biometric authentication system, the FST21 for facial recognition, with SlimLane at the ASIS show in Chicago. A demonstration video is available at the following address: http://goo.gl/O9zVT.
The SlimLane range of speed gates has a very slim and modern design perfectly suited to any type of interior architecture such as office buildings, head offices, banks as well as public buildings.

SlimLane’s security features include a high-performance detection system based on a high processing capacity (ARM9) and a high-density matrix of superior infrared beams (DIRAS) for dynamic, predictive tracking of users thus preventing unauthorised use such as tailgating or piggybacking. It also includes electromechanical locking to withstand forced entry attempts as well as audible and visual signals to indicate unauthorised usage, making SlimLane one of the best in class speed gates in terms of detection capabilities.

User protection functionalities include anti-panic operating mode (EGRESS) meeting the highest fire safety standards, a device to prevent finger entrapment and extrinsic battery operated opening in case of power failure.

SlimLane is IP capable and benefits from a unique open communication platform with embedded software providing real time monitoring and the ability to configure and maintain each lane locally or
remotely via a simple web browser. Its intelligence includes auto failure monitoring and automatic lane recognition mechanism for increased service time and lower operating costs.

The SlimLane range of speed gates offers greater modularity. SlimLane is available with high or short glasses, standard or short cabinet, single or double door, wide or narrow lane, opening/closing in the same/different direction. All SlimLane versions can be blended together within the same installation.
