| Alcatel-Lucent expands ecosystem of partners for open Omniaccess 3500 nonstop laptop guardian |
| April 2008 by Marc Jacob |
| The Alcatel-Lucent commitment to open architecture continues to create more value for enterprises as new companies join the OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian (NLG) partner ecosystem. Invented by Bell Labs and incubated by Alcatel-Lucent Ventures, the OmniAccess 3500 NLG leverages 3G networks to allow enterprises to overcome the “mobile blind spot” by managing their laptops anywhere, anytime, and even when the laptop is turned off. Secure, always-on, fully-integrated third party applications and features offer enterprises a choice of best-of-breed solutions along with visibility and control. |
|
Key benefits provided by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 NLG and its partner ecosystem include: 100% patch management enabling delivery of software updates to laptops even when turned off; “remote kill” deletion of encryption keys and certificates to secure lost or stolen laptops; off hours backup and restore even for laptops that are turned off; 24/7 asset and configuration management control over all device configurations; two-factor authentication eliminating the need for additional authentication devices by using the NLG as a remotely controlled SmartCard; and laptop location information to locate lost or stolen laptops or apply policies based on laptop location. By working with its partners across its enterprise portfolio, Alcatel-Lucent provides customers with a rich, reliable set of certified solution options. Depending upon the relationship, partners may also undertake joint marketing, reselling and development projects with Alcatel-Lucent. |
