ADVA Optical Networking Acquires Engineering Division from Technology Incubator

November 2015 by Marc Jacob

ADVA Optical Networking announced that is has acquired an engineering division from technology incubator, mic AG. The talented team of engineers is specifically focused on the development of optical monitoring technology in fiber networks. Their skills will be key for ADVA Optical Networking as it continues to rapidly advance its popular ADVA FSP 3000 Access Link Monitoring (ALM) product. Since its launch in 2014, the ADVA FSP 3000 ALM has been widely applauded for introducing a compact and easy-to-use optical monitoring solution - something previously missing from the marketplace. The new team members will be based in ADVA Optical Networking’s Meiningen campus and will begin work as soon as the acquisition is finalized.

ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 ALM was introduced as a direct response to service providers’ requests for more insight into their fiber access networks. Previously, this was only possible with very large and expensive optical monitoring equipment. By contrast, the ADVA FSP 3000 ALM is a small, non-intrusive device that operates independently of data networking equipment. This separation of fiber monitoring from services and applications enables the ADVA FSP 3000 ALM to monitor fiber access networks regardless of the bitrate and protocol the overlaying service is using. The ADVA FSP 3000 ALM gives service providers up-to-the-second knowledge of their fiber plant and an understanding of where and what action may need to be taken to ensure continued service availability.
